Gabriel’s Angels mission is to deliver healing pet therapy to abused, neglected and at-risk children, nurturing their ability to love and trust, thereby freeing them from the cycle of violence.
Gabriel's Angels, incorporated as a non-profit organization in May 12, 2000, has grown to over 100 teams volunteering that regularly visit crisis nurseries, domestic violence shelters, group homes and homeless shelters in the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas. Each dog must undergo a certification process that involves training and testing, and each human volunteer must also be trained and pass the standard security screening required by state law.
Currently, they have close to 20 facilities waiting for Pet Therapy Team placement. This need in the community demonstrates the necessity and effectiveness of programs such as this. Gabriel’s Angels are always looking for new Pet Therapy Teams or Helping Hand Volunteers. For more information on these volunteer opportunities, please call our Volunteer Department at 480-460-5333.

The mission of Rockets Rangers is to teach children compassion for and solutions to the plight of homeless animals as well as to give them the tools and knowledge to be better caregivers of their own companion animals. We accomplish this by taking Rocket to groups of children between the ages of 7 and 10 and telling them his rescue story illustrated by his personal cartoon created by artist Pam Conrad. It is a sad story with a happy ending that touches their hearts and inspires them to help needy animals. During visits the kids are each given a Rocket’s Rangers booklet that contains the cartoon, a coloring section, emergency info and drawings by other children. It also contains ideas of how they can help and become “Super Rangers” which qualifies them to a chance to win a bike.
Program founder and director is Barbara Steele who will be happy to arrange a visit by Rocket to your classroom or kid’s group meeting. There are also many volunteer opportunities. In the future, teams of rescued dogs and their owners will be carrying Rocket’s message into classrooms using his materials along with their own stories.
Follow Rocket’s blog as well as those of Mango the cat, Roc’s Doc, Rocket’s Wrangler and Rescue Roundup which has other touching rescue stories.
Rocket’s Rangers is an educational program of PACC911 a 501c3 organization.
